Festivals-Sikh

The Sikh community in Malaysia observes several significant festivals that hold spiritual and cultural importance. Vaisakhi, also known as Baisakhi, marks the Sikh New Year and commemorates the establishment of the Khalsa Panth. Celebrated with processions, prayer meetings, and community service, Vaisakhi is a time for reflection and gratitude. Guru Nanak Jayanti, honouring the birth of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, involves prayers, kirtan (spiritual singing), and langar (community meals). The spirit of selfless service, or seva, is integral to Sikh festivals, emphasizing the principles of equality and compassion. These festivals not only deepen the spiritual connection within the Sikh community but also contribute to the rich tapestry of Malaysia's multicultural landscape, fostering understanding and unity.
