International Day of Persons with Disabilities

The observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was first proclaimed in 1992 by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. This annual observance aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all areas of society and development as well as to increase the awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. The International Day of Persons with Disabilities has been celebrated with varying degrees of success around the world.
