Boss’ Day

Boss’ Day is observed on October 16 in the United States. Traditionally, it is a day when the employees thank their bosses for being kind and fair to them. Boss’ Day was created with the anticipation of strengthening the bond between the boss and the employee. In 1958, Patricia Bays Haroski registered “National Boss’ Day’ with the US Chamber of Commerce. She was a secretary, working for her father’s company. Her purpose of registering this special day was to show her appreciation for her bosses. She believed that employees, the younger ones in particular, did not understand the hard work and dedication that their supervisors put into their work and the challenges they faced. In 1962, Haroski’s registration was supported by Illinois Governor, Otto Kerner and Boss’ Day was officially proclaimed. Today, because of internationalisation of labour and businesses, Boss’ Day is celebrated in transnational corporations and larger organisations throughout the world. FaveKad wishes all the bosses Happy Boss’ Day!
